# 24-THE FINISH LINE

This is my final blog..
Wow, so this is what the finish line feels like!! This is such a great feeling that I'm finally done with the LPLS Web 2.0. 24 things. It's such a relief that I don't have anymore exercises!!!! Now, I'm ready for my MP3 player and download some music!! When I got almost near the end, I felt I couldn't get there fast enough.

I want to say thank you to Jerriann for a technology ride learning different web tools. I will have to say that my reason for completing these exercises was to get an MP3 player. I have learned alot in the process of it all. There were some exercises that were a bit frustrating and not as fun as others. I had my favorite exercises as well. I was determined that I would finish and I did!!

Some of my favorite exercises were:
Deli.icio.us
Flickr
Bloglines
YouTube
On-Line Generator
Podcasts
My LibraryDV

These exercises have enlighted me of all the tools out there that I wasn't familiar with. At least now I will be familiar with the tools when I come across them again whether or not our library uses them or not. I will at least know what someone is talking about. I may attempt to use my bloglines (at least check them from time to time). I'm already using Del.icio.us now on my home computer. Flickr is something fun to play around with. As far as unexpected outcomes, it was a lot more work that I expected at first but it was worth it by learning new things I didn't know before. There was a target and finish line. I learned a lot of things that I didn't know before and being exposed to different tools. I think reading the on-line material sites with each exercise is what takes so long but if you shortcut too much, you are losing in the long run and don't get as much out of learning new things.

I think that I would possibly do another discovery program if offered in the future. I believe that it was worth my time in discovering and exploring different tools and learning different sites to venture into later. You get what you put into it.. Well, hope you've enjoyed reading my blogs with all the discovery adventures I have made. Well, this is a wrap.. See ya and goodbye...

# 23- PODCASTS

Discovering Podcasts..

I discovered that you can find about anything you want on a podcast. Learning about podcasts is very interesting. I now have a broader knowledge in the world of what's out there in the podcast world. I found there are tons of library related podcasts out there. Some are more interesting than others. I found out that there is a children's podcast radio to listen to. The podcast has different children's books to listen to online which was interesting. I don't know if kids would actually sit that long and listen to a podcast but it's interesting to say the least. Children librarians or teachers would possibly be interested in that one. Listening to the podcast tutorial was educational in itself. I think that podcasts could be useful in a library setting to use on the library website for patrons. I think it would be an excellent tool to use to inform patrons of upcoming events possibly. There are other things it could be used for for online patrons as well as library staff especially when there is a URL feed. For NPR (Nashville Public Radio) listeners, there is a book review podcast for online listeners. I put about three library related podcasts RSS feeds on my blogline. The podcast listed are: Libvib, Childrensradio and the NashvillePublicRadio podcast. If you interested in looking at the library podcasts , you can go to my public blogline at: http://bloglines.com/public/lavender007

Well, I'm almost at the finish line with the blogging. I will have my final thing summarizing my blogging thoughts on the next blog. Hope you've enjoyed reading my blogs.

# 22-R.E.A.D.S & MyLibraryDV

Exploration of READS & MyLibraryDV...

Looking around on READS, I found some things that I would like to look at later. I didn't really realize some of the topics there were listed on the site. I was familiar that we had READS on the library site because I've mentioned it to patrons and also the Net Library as well (the other downloadable audiobook site). We have the READS bookmarks that we give out to patrons so that they can learn more about the site and how to download books. I think it's a great opportunity for people to be aware of these sites that we offer especially when people are overdue alot on their audiobooks. This is a good way without having overdue items on their record.

I am already familiar with MyLibraryDV with using it myself. I've already have it downloaded on my computer I use at home. I've watched about 4 or 5 travel movies which were pretty good. I watched 2 or 3 of the travel movies when I did during one of the earlier exercises. I recommend anyone to take the time to watch some of those DV movies, travel movies, etc. I watched the travel movies myself because that's what I enjoy watching the most. This is a great site and I hope that we are able to keep LibraryDV for a long time. I didn't realize how many different types of movies we have on the site until I started really investigating them. If you like to cook or just watch someone cook, then there's something there you might like as well. It's a nifty way to watch different stuff that you wouldn't normally think about watching. Check out the READS and MyLibraryDV, you will be glad you did...

Thanks for your time in reading my blogging post. Catch you back on the next post.. Getting almost to the finish line...Wait...read a couple more blogs, okay..

# 21-YOUTUBE

Watching YouTube Videos..

Watching this comedy video classic, I think it would be nice for patrons if our library did have a snack counter, possibly cookies like Cookie Monster in the Sesame Street video wanted from the librarian. We do have patrons that hang out awhile at the library and probably would enjoy a little snack from a librarian. The video has humor which we all need from time to time and it actually makes a point in a humorous way.

Man, don't you hate it when there's no cookies and milk in the L-I-B-R-A-R-Y? Yes, this is a L -I-B-R-A-R-Y. We don't have cookies and milk to check out at the library. NO COOKIES.. JUST BOOKS! Well, Cookie Monster wants cookies and milk and a book to check out at the L-I-B-R-A-R-Y.
Ahh, could I just have a book to read about cookies? Okay...

If you like Sesame Street, then you might enjoy the classic video:

NO COOKIES IN THE LIBRARY- SESAME STREET CLASSIC

'>http://

I decided on this video because it shows humor in a library setting with a comedy puppet skit. The skit showed the funny side of people.

#20- WEB 2.O. SITES

Poking around with Web 2.0 Sites...

Poking around looking at the different Web 2.0 sites was fun. Some of the sites I was already familiar with since I've already adventured a few doing the exercises. One of the sites I enjoyed was http://www.biblo.com/ which I've been on before but it was still fun. This site gives different types of books to search for. There's some rare books that you can buy or look at on the site. There are bargin books that are priced under $2.00. You can find out of print books. I didn't find anything at the moment that I didn't like about the site so for me it's a great site. Biblo.com would be good to use on a library website because it would give people other options with books that they wouldn't usually be able to run across on a regular library site. Some people are out there trying to find books that are rare and this would be a good site for that, etc. There might be a book that they've been looking for and might find it on this site.

I discovered a new bookmark site called http://www.ma.gnolia.com/ . I liked this particular site. It's a lot like the Del.icio.us bookmark site that I encountered with the other blogging exercises. A thing I liked about " ma.gnolia.com bookmark site is that you don't have to logged into that site to bookmark something. I think this site could possibly be used for library purposes for patrons to bookmark the library spots or sites they enjoy using the most.

Another neat site was http://www.listdump.com/ which is a list of community generated lists of favorite sites. This community site listed that foodnetwork.com that was listed as one of the favorite food sites which I thought was neat. There is a host of different types of favorite community sites that was listed. You might could use this for library purposes for the community to list their favorite books places or reference material resource locations they use alot.

Well, I've listed several Web. 2.0 sites that I've explored. There are dozens of other good sites out there if you willing to look for them. This exercise was fun because I enjoyed discovering new places to go and enjoy later. Well, I've pondered long enough.. Come back later to the next blogging post..

# 19 SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES

IN THE AGE OF SOCIAL NETWORKING..

These days it seems that social networking is more popular than ever especially to the younger generation with a site such as MySpace. I looked at the different social networks sites and found those sites are not really my thing. I like other types of sites instead. I know a lot of teenages hang out on that site and it concerns me a lot. There is a lot of sexual predators that hang out on that site to lure naive teenages to talk to strangers and give out personal information. I've heard a lot of negative things about MySpace. Teenagers think the site is safe but it's not. If I was a parent, I wouldn't allow my child to use that site. I went to Facebook and some of the other sites but you have to set an account up so I decided not to persue those. I looked at the "Bookspoke" site and clicked on a few things. I looked also at some of the libraries that use Myspace on their library websites. Libraries use MySpace site for a social networking usage that will attract users. I personally don't prefer MySpace but rather I like the blogging method for library users. Well, those are my viewpoints of some of those sites. I'm sure other bloggers feel differently but these are my opinions only.

# 18 ONLINE APPLICATIONS

Welcome back to my blog corner of the world..

I played around with GoogleDoc and uploaded a file from some of my own documents. I can't say at this point that I like GoogleDoc better than Microsoft Word because I actually think that GoogleDoc has more limited features than Microsoft Word. I like Microsoft Word better because for me it's easier to use which is my personal preference. There are more toolbar capabilities and more things on Microsoft Word. It has for instance, a resume template, clipart downloads, etc. I didn't like GoogleDoc as well for another reason because I couldn't make the document page a full screen. When I uploaded a picture from my online files, I couldn't get the picture to be positioned in the upright direction without turning my head sideways to look at the picture. I know even though GoogleDoc is an online application, I don't see me using that at this point. There are some good features with the Google site and has some useful gadgets I came across. I will have to check out the gadgets that Google offers. I haven't tried their email service "GMAIL" so I don't have any opinion about that yet. I might like GoogleDoc better possibly if I played around with it and got more used to it. I'm so used to Microsoft Word that I'd rather stick to it. I tried to use WriteDoc but I never got an e-mail verification to use that site but it looked like a pretty good site. It's suppose to be alot like Microsoft Word.

I went to GoDocs but it seemed that on the site that it cost to sign up so I didn't care to go there after that point. It was interesting to try out the online applications. For now, I think I'll stick with what I'm used to. Well, that's my observation. I'm sure others probably will think differently but that's okay with me.

Okay, that's my side of the story.. Catch you back a little later on the flip side..

#17-LPLS WIKI

Whew, glad to get this over with..Yes, that's what I said.. It was a challenge for me in doing the wiki but I overcame my challenge! It took me a while on this one but glad I stuck with it and accomplished my mission !! This wasn't my favorite exercise that I've done so far. I posted a few articles on the manual and searched some of the topics that are posted on the wiki.

Well, I do think that the wiki used for work purposes can be used in a variety and useful ways to serve staff and as well as a public wiki for patrons. I think it will be useful for staff when there is a need to look up different work procedures that will be posted on the wiki. A calender of events for staff on a wiki would be helpful. It would be helpful to have a wiki with a Question and Answer column for things staff might want to ask regarding work questions if they can't find it in the policy manual. A chatroom might be fun for those interested in a public wiki. Bright Ideas or Suggestion page could be posted on a wiki instead of the present method (writing ideas on the Bright Idea forms that you turn in). You could actually have fun with it if you wanted to go outside the box and put some fun stuff on the wiki and be creative. I liked the idea that I saw in the podcast where you can have an YouTube podcast on a wiki. It could be used in a way of learning new information for work by having it on a podcast. It's a fun way of learning instead of always have the usual method of written material. There are lots of other ways of using a wiki. Those are just some of them.

Well, I need to go and catch up with the other people that are already ahead on the exercises. Catch me later..

# 16-WIKIS

EXPLORING WIKIS..

Wikis was something new for me until exploring and learning about wikis. I think there are positives and negatives regarding wikis. Adding wikis on a library online catalog would allow patrons to make book reviews which would be good on that standpoint. I understand OCLC is already working towards that on the catalog. The thing that anyone being able to change content/delete someone else's information may not be totally good. There could be content added that's incorrect and without accurate facts. Wikis would be good to use for sharing ideas for group projects and collaberating ideas. I think that a community forum could be an interesting feature with an RSS feed tool for wikis but you have to make sure the content is accurate. A suggestion box wiki where patrons could type in their suggestions on-line instead of the old way (where patrons fill out a suggestion card) which would be faster doing it on-line. Wikis could be used as a ready reference guide for frequently asked questions for patrons and online users. Libraries could also use a wiki to post an event calender of upcoming events or having a shared calender for everyone. One of the cool things about wikis is being about to add on-line slide shows or YouTube videos and the chatroom option on wikis. People could post blogs on wikis which might be interesting for libraries online. I think you have to evaluate the pro and cons with using wikis for libraries. Everyone might have a little different view on wikis but I've tried to look at it both ways.
Got to go and catch up on another blogging exercise. Catch me back later..

# 15-LIBRARY 2.0 PERSPECTIVES

I explored Library 2.0 perspectives and it allowed me to see endless possiblities for libraries in using this resource for patrons as well as library staff. Library 2.0 uses some of the Web. 2.0 tools that were in the discovery exercises except it goes into a broader range of services on-line. Library 2.0 is an extension of Web. 2.0. Library 2.0 would allow patrons to comment, write reviews, create their own tags and ratings of books, share their thoughts with others with an OPAC interface catalog. OPEC World Cat allows on-line users to view searches on topics and then locate that particular book with a geographic library area that would have the book you are looking for. You search the geographic area by the zip code finder on the site and the ISBN number for the book. Users could know what others are reading, listening to, etc. It mentioned a new on-line tool for word processing that runs on the computer brower instead of on the desktop applications. Library 2.0 is more interactive having a chat reference service on the on-line catalog. This would mean having a study group room online that would allow an online social network with library staff and patrons. In Library 2.0, the catalog woud be an open catalog where users could tag the library's collections. Library 2.0 has blogs, instant messaging, social networks, RSS feeds, tags.

In perspective of Library 2.0, I think there are a lot of good things for the interactive user catalog. It would be a more technology driven catalog service that creates an interactive online environment. I enjoyed learning about Library 2.o. Learning about tags, RSS feeds, mashups, etc. with the discovery exercises helped me to understand a little better about Library 2.0.

# 14 Technorati

Discovering Technorati... I took another adventure to check out Technorati and learned a few more things in my online discovery. I learned about what authority means in a blog, how to recognize tags in blogs. There are some things I'm still a little fuzzy about with Technorati but it was good to expand my knowledge with this site. When I did a few searches on some blog posts and in tags, I came up with about the same information when I did a search for "Learning 2.0" actually. I looked on Technorati and found my blog was posted on Technorati which I thought was neat. I claimed my blog on Technorati. It doesn't show my blog has any authority yet. I learned how to tag my blog on Technorati. I'm learning new on-line terms that I didn't know before. I can at least now be somewhat familiar with some of the terms that I didn't know before. This is definitely a learning in progress but fun also. Technorati is a little different from deli.cio.us bookmark site. I found LPLS posted on Technorati also. I also found a few of our LPLS library bloggers posted on Technorati also. I think that the Technorati is a more technical bookmark site which you can do more things with if you choose to do so. Let's go exploring and learn something else new. Catch you back later...

# 13- Del.icio.us Discovery

Del.icio.us Discoveries..

It was a pleasure to discover Del.icio.us bookmark site. I enjoyed that site and discovering how to set up an account bookmark on my computer browser. It was interesting to learn a different way of bookmarking my favorites. I enjoyed tagging some of my favorite sites with this bookmark site. I liked discovering this new way of bookmarking. I don't want to give up the standard way of bookmarking favorites but I like this new way also. I may use both and see which way I like the best. It's something new and exciting for me. Del.icio.us would be a good tool for keeping up with research information for everyday use or just having fun bookmarking favorite sites. This tagging tool is a good source to use for libraries and also for teachers, or anyone. It was easy to set up and was enjoyable all the same time. I will probably use this in the future as well. If anyone is interested in looking at my Del.icio.us network bookmarks then click on this link: http://del.icio.us/lavender007 Try it out yourself because you might actually enjoy it like me especially if you use a personal computer at home. I've got to travel and do a little more blogging to learn a little more on my self discovery. Hope you join me on that adventure of discovering something new. It's great to learn about some of this stuff. This adventure has been worth my time. Well, check back with my on my next posting.. Until then..

# 12-ROLLYO

In Rollyo World...

Another discovery was made in the on-line world. I discovered "Rollyo" where you can bookmark and save your website searches. This is my first time using Rollyo so that was an experience. I don't think this site is considered my favorite site by any means but it's good to know what's out there if I decide to use this one. I'm used to the old fashion way of bookmarking my favorites by just clicking on "Favorites" on the computer toolbar which I like the best. The old fashion way I think is simpler and not as complicated to set up. I thought it took a lot of time in setting up and figuring out what I was doing with Rollyo since I'm not familiar with this site at all. You just basically figure it out for yourself which I finally did. I did set up a Rollyo search roll. If interested in looking at my search roll, it is: http://rollyo.com/lavender007/
Whew, glad that's finished.. Well, on to the next blogging discovery...

# 11-LibraryThing

Library Thing...

I explored and discovered "LibraryThing" which is actually pretty neat. This was a new site for me so it was a little interesting to say the least. I don't know if I would use this site a lot but it's nice to know it's there. It's actually a pretty good site to use as long as you don't catalog over 200 books. After 200 books are cataloged, you have to pay to catalog your books on the site which is actually the catch if you do a lot of cataloging. Thinking about the fact that LibraryThing charges you after 200 books or they are deleted, one thing came to mind is that someone could just create a second account with a different username & password and that way you could just have different accounts and still catalog your books. I think over all though that's it's a pretty neat to do this sort of thing and get suggestions on the same types of books. It kinda neat to see what other people say about different things on LibraryThing. I'm sure there are other sites out there that be good also. I'm becoming aware of all these sites that I haven't heard of before. I did catalog some books so here's my link for the LibraryThing of books cataloged at: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/lavender007 Catch you later with my next blog to discover something else new...

#10- Online Image Generator

Welcome to the world of On-Line Image Generator..

My thoughts are brought to you today by a message in a bottle from an island called Blog Land. Well, being stranded on an island in Blog Land can't be too bad if there is popcorn & coke available! What more could you ask for.. right. It was fun doing the Online Generator. It took me a little bit of time of figuring it out to get it right but it was fun once I did. The website I used for the online image generator is http://www.txt2pic.com/ . My actual image pic is :http://message-in-bottle.txt2pic.com/
Check out the site. You might find something of interest yourself. I looked at different kinds of image generators that were all a little different from each other. I didn't realize there different types of generators. You can just Google search and find lots of unique image generators to play around with. I hope the next discovery is as interesting as this one. Check back with me and see what else I discover on my next blogging trip!! I might need some more popcorn and coke to finish my next blog. See you back around on Blog Land Island. Bring some snacks when you come back to visit me.

# 9 -FEEDS

Hello again in the world of feeds...

I will have to say this thing of exploring feeds is a bit confusing. Like I said on #8, this stuff is not familiar at all to me. This stuff is a little too techie for me. I went to Feedstar but the site never loaded where I could search anything, so that one is definitely a no. I went to Topix, Syndic8 and the other one- Technorati. I didn't really like any of those too well at all. I think they were more confusing that Bloglines. I did find a few library searches on some of them but not a whole lot. There were library blogs on some of the other sites. I actually enjoyed Bloglines a lot better because I was able to find more interesting stuff without having to dig so much. I think Bloglines is more user friendly than the other ones.

Come back again for my next blog adventure. Looks like the next discovery is going to be fun!! Looks like I get to play a little !! Stay tuned in for my next discovery in the world of blogging..

# 8-RSS

In the world of RSS Feed and Bloglines, this was a whole new territory for me. I learned a few things about RSS that I was totally not familiar with doing at all. It was certainly a learning experience for me. Once I got into it, I actually starting enjoying it a little. I found out by exploring different feed searches that it's possible to have posted photo feeds included in bloglines which I enjoyed the most. I found some scenic sunset pictures that I enjoyed viewing on the Blogline feed which was useful for me since I like looking at on-line pictures. I looked at different feeds but like Bloglines the best. I thought it neat that you can keep track of your favorite news links, etc. by having a RSS feeder. I think it can be useful if you do a lot of on-line posting such as websites or someone that enjoys blogging on a regular basis to keep up with what they are searched for. I think it's a helpful tool for library websites so that patrons can keep up with on-line searches and receive ongoing information with a RSS Feed capacity. I explored a library in Maine that is using a RSS feed already on their site which was interesting. If interested, you can log on to my blogline address at: http://www.bloglines.com/public/lavender007

Thanks for your time in reading my blog. Check out some of my bloglines, if you like..

# 7-ONLINE ARCHIVE

In the On-Line Archive World

http://tsla-teva.state.tn.us/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/Mustard&CISOPTR=58&REC=10

This is an online archive picture of Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. This photo seemed appropriate for me because this hospital was where I was born into this world. I grew up here in Murfreesboro and have seen a lot of changes as the years have rolled by. Rutherford Hospital had the grand opening on May 2, 1927 with the first patient. When the hospital was originally estabished in 1927, it was through a contribution from the Commonwealth Fund of New York City. The original structure housed 37 beds. The front entrance to the hosiptal was originally located on University Street but was later changed to North Highland Ave. The hospital has continued to grow in leaps and bounds. Rutherford Hospital was renamed Middle Tennesee Medical Center in 1982. The Christy Houston Foundation formed after the sale of the Rutherford Hospital to St. Thomas and Baptist Hospital in 1986. The foundation was named after Simeon B. Christy. The Christy Houston Foundation became a vital part in the community in donating grants for the hospital, nursing scholarships, donating land where the MTMC Wellness Center is now located, etc. They are now looking to build a brand new Middle Tennesee Medical Center on Middle Tennesee Medical Parkway sometime in the near future. They have outgrowned their present facility and the new facility will give twice as much room for expansion.

Since I was born and raised here in Murfreesboro, I can definitely see a growth increase in every direction since the last 10 years. When I was growing up, this town was considered to be a small rural town. Things are a lot different these days, for sure.. No one has to tell you now what kind of traffic we already have here!! I remember growing up where most of the stores were up on the Square but later shopping centers came to vogue. Well, this is my blog that I wanted to share with you. It brought back memories for me sharing with you.

I have an extra addition to share if you are interested in looking at something not quite so serious to read if you want to scroll below. . I wanted to create a little fun as well to break the seriousness from the blog above.. Let's have a little fun and enjoy...
Scroll below..

I traveled on-line to the archives and found a picture of my all-time favorite book and movie growing up as a kid. I loved the "Wizard of Oz" and thought it was a fascinating story. I remember actually being a little scared of the wizard in the movie but still loved the movie. You can't forget Dorothy's ruby red slippers!! I loved all the characters that made up the book and movie. Each character played a certain part in the story that made it an all time favorite for lots of children (and should I say adults as well). If you enjoy some of the older movies in archives, you might enjoy poking around at the Library of Congress website and find your favorite all time book or movie. You can look up the history about the film (when the film began and other details). Will be back with a different one next time.. "I'm not in Kansas anymore"..as Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" would say... Kick your heels twice and follow the yellow brick road to my next blog. .. Catch you later for a different discovery.

# 6 THING-FLICKR TOYS, MASHUPS,ETC..

I really enjoyed checking out the Flickr toys and Mashups stuff. I had a lot of fun playing around with that site. I like several of the Flickr toys that I came across. I enjoyed the Flickr Colr Pickr where you click on the color palette and different pictures will pop up. You could select different designs located at the bottom of the palette to create different designs. I especially liked the kaleidoscope toy online. You can make your own kaleidoscope online!! It's really cool to play around with that!! I'm sure everyone remembers the round kaleidoscope toy that you swirl around as a kid. It's the same concept except it's online and a lot more fun with all those different designs. There was something else really neat such as a music box that has a motion graphic with music sounds of different instruments. Each different music instrument you select pops up with different colored moving line graphic set to music. It's hard to explain unless you've actually have seen this but it's really neat though..It was called Whitney's Music Box. Well, remember the Spyrograph growing up? Well, there's a neat on-line toy that is a Sprographer that is much the same way but (of course) it's online. I will have to say the Flickr toys are fun and cool!! When you have the chance to play a little, check those out..
I looked at the mashups also. I explored different types of mashups. They could be useful in some ways.

"Lighthouses in the Sunset" photos

Check out the web links. These are photo images of lighthouses in the evening sunset that I found on Flickr. The sunset with the lighthouses in the photos are just beautiful and majestic to look at. I love nature pictures like these. It makes me wish I was there in the picture looking up at the beautiful sky! I especially enjoyed looking at the nature scenic pictures that were on the site which are my favorite. I use http://www.webshots.com/ generally for pictures so it was good to find another site to view. Hope you enjoy the pictures on the web links.. Enjoy...

#4 Entry-Database Searches

On the LPLS database searches, I went to a couple of databases that I thought was interesting. Two of those were the "My Library DV"-video on demand where you watch DVD videos. The other one was "Find Articles" database with resources with journals, articles, etc.

I enjoyed the "My Library DV" video where I could travel to different places and see different parts of the country. One of the places I traveled to on-line was the New England states which I thought was pretty. I would love to visit some of the New England states and go to the different areas which is one of the reasons I picked the travel video. The video showed where Alva Smith Vanderbilt lived in Newport, Rhode Island. It's a beautiful mansion that was her summer home. For a bit of trivia, do you know why the the bridges are covered bridges? The bridges were covered because they were made of wood and the cover protects the bridge in the winter months. I traveled to Boston, Maine, Cape Cod and other New England states. At Cape Cod, there was a lighthouse to visit. On another trip on-line, I decided to visit Hawaii. I thought Maui was the most beautiful island that the video showed. I would love to go to Maui sometime!! I discovered where Charles Lindberg had once lived there in Hawaii. I have another bit of trivia.. Did you know that the humpback whale weighs over 40 tons!! I recommend anyone taking the time to watch some of the My LibraryDV videos. There is a variety of videos on the database to enjoy.

The other database I searched was "Find Articles" with journals, magazines, etc. I decided to look up the nutrition section. I chose this article because nutrition information is always useful for anyone. We all need to think about what we eat. What we eat can affect our health in the long run. Well, I'm sure everyone has heard of the old adage that "an apple a day keeps the doctor away." There is actually some truth in that according to the article that I read. According to my source, eating a couple apples a day may lower someone's chance of developing heart disease and reports a health benefit of fiber consumption. It is recommended to eat an abundance of fiber-rich foods to prevent coronary heart disease according to the health source that I read. Fiber has been shown to reduce heart disease in many ways, such as lowering blood pressure. Diet is associated with the five leading cause of death for people 65 years or older. According to my source, studies have shown that eating a healthy diet and being active is influenced more than family genetics.

There were a lot more information that I read but I wanted to just give you a few things that was on the article. I do recommend the database for anyone. It seems to have a source of different types of information out there for anyone.

PONDERING THOUGHTS....

#3 Blog Entry
7 1/2 Steps Good Habits Video Tutorial

I watched the 7 1/2 steps tutorial and I have a few thoughts of my own. This tutorial was based on having a postive attitude in working through goals and dealing with issues in life that we sometimes don't want to face. I feel that it is never to late to learn something new. Problems you have can create a situation in learning from mistakes although it's not fun going through our obstacles in life. I personally feel that problems or challenges in life can sometimes help us to be a stronger person in the end but going through problems is always tough and never fun to work through. You can learn from the mistakes you've made so that you will do a better job the next time around on a similiar situation.

The video dealt with goals we have in life. I have some personal goals of my own that I've started to work on myself. It takes motivation to keep going with the goals you set out to do. It sometimes is easier to stay on a goal if you have someone that can hold you accountable and encourage you on as you complete the goals you set out to do. I have a tendency to get geared up at the beginning but towards the end, I fizzle out on completing my goals. In essence, I think the hardest is staying on task in completing what I set out to do. I thought about what the easiest thing and decided that playing is actually the easiest to do. After all, who doesn't enjoy a little play time even if it's just relaxing with some wonderful music to listen to. That's relaxing to me especially after a long day!!
